Meet Melissa; this beautiful mama is a Stroller Strides member and is a part of our 5k Running Club! Melissa always has a smile on her face and always seems to be laughing, no matter what motherhood is throwing at her! We are so glad she's a part of Our Village!

Favorite thing about FIT4MOM: I love that I am able to get a great workout and that Max can come with me. Plus I have been able to meet other moms who are very supportive.

When did you join FIT4MOM? February 2017

What is your current job? Or what did you do before staying at home? I am a special education teacher but took the school year off to stay at home with my son.

What is your favorite food? Chicken pot pie

What is your favorite beverage? Root Beer

What is your favorite book? Harry Potter series

You are given four free hours of babysitting, what would you do? Go to dinner and a movie with my husband.

What is your dream kid free vacation? Traveling around Europe

What is your dream family vacation? Kauai or Disneyland

How has becoming a mother changed you? Motherhood has changed me to appreciate the small things in life. Every day is a new adventure and I love having my little man by my side.

Fondest childhood memory? My fondest childhood memory is spending time with my parents and sister especially during the summer months. We use to have a humongous garden that I would help my parents with and my dad would always barbeque delicious steaks or burgers.

Your favorite "go to" family friendly recipe?

One Pot Hamburger Stroganoff


1 pound lean ground beef

1 small onion, chopped

3 cloves garlic, minced

2 cups sliced mushrooms

1 1/2 cups beef broth

1 1/2 cups milk

2 cups uncooked egg noodles

1 teaspoon dried parsley

1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch

1/2 cup sour cream

salt and pepper to taste


In a large skillet brown the ground beef over medium heat along with the onion, garlic and mushrooms. Drain any grease. Add in the broth, milk, noodles and parsley. Simmer covered for 10 minutes.

In a small bowl combine the cornstarch with just enough water to make it a liquid. Stir into stroganoff in the last 3 minutes of cooking. Remove from heat and stir in the sour cream.
