If you had a healthy pregnancy and a normal vaginal delivery, you should be able to start exercising again soon after the baby is born. Usually, it is safe to begin exercising a few days after giving birth—or as soon as you feel ready. If you had a cesarean delivery or other complications, ask your health care provider when it is safe to begin exercising again. - ACOG, June 2015
These classes are no walk in the park. In just one hour you will get a complete head to toe workout that will have you feeling energized and feeling fit! Classes are designed for ALL different fitness levels and are taught by certified instructors who are also moms. During our stations, we use resistance bands, open fields for drills or obstacles, benches or steps and anything in the environment to give you a great workout! Don't be surprised if you find yourself saying words like "burpee" or "plank" before long!
All you need is a stroller, water, a mat/towel for ground work, and yourself. Our instructors always carry extra resistance bands, and you will receive your own set when you sign up as a member.
We also recommend that you bring toys, books, and snacks for your kiddos.
YES! We encourage expectant moms to continue to exercise through their pregnancy as long as everything has been approved by their physician. Instructors are trained in both pre and post natal fitness and follow the ACOG guidelines. We can modify any exercise that poses an issue as you progress through your pregnancy. Stroller Strides does require a Doctors approval prior to beginning Stroller Strides if pregnant and that form can be emailed to you, so you are ready to go on your first day! Exercise during pregnancy helps improve or increase:
The biggest reason is safety. We move quickly from place to place and most little feet cannot keep up. To be courteous to other members, it is best to keep all kids who are not in carriers in the stroller. Once one is out, they all want to get out. All kids must be seated and strapped into their strollers during class, in accordance to our insurance policies.
If your child is crying or misbehaving, know that you aren't alone. From time to time all children get restless during class. Your instructors will try to maintain a fun atmosphere for your children with songs, games, and movement. Remember, this is an atmosphere where children are WELCOME (even crying children)! Tend to your child, help them and hop back into the workout as soon as you are ready!
If there is one thing that we understand, it is that you have KIDS! And for some reason, that often makes us late! We do our best to make sure that all classes start on time and would appreciate your best efforts to be there on time as well. If that isn't possible, you can look around each of our park locations and join us when you are able. There are those days and we understand that. Being on time is important because we want to make sure that your muscles are properly warmed up. But things happen from time to time.
